FAQ
Q1. How much load can an 80kVA digital UPS carry?
It is rated 80 kVA with a single-phase 220 VAC output, so it normally protects a complete 220 V bus — a production cell, an instrument department, a row of racks — rather than a single machine. Add up the steady-state load you intend to run and leave headroom for equipment that draws a start-up surge. Send us the load list and we will check it against the cabinet.
Q2. What happens to the protected equipment when the mains fails?
Nothing the equipment can detect. The inverter keeps supplying the load from the DC bus while the battery takes over the energy supply, so there is no switchover gap and no restart sequence. When the mains returns, the rectifier recharges the battery bank while the load continues running from the inverter.
Q3. Do we provide our own batteries, and how is back-up time decided?
This model works with an external 12 V battery bank rather than built-in batteries, which lets you size the bank around the back-up time your site needs and replace individual blocks later. Runtime is not fixed by the cabinet; it follows from the battery capacity installed and the load you actually draw. Give us both figures and we will help size the string.
Q4. Can the UPS report into our building management system?
Yes. The cabinet has a standard communication port for a monitoring platform or building management system, and additional interface and network-management options are available if your site standardises on them. The same status information is shown locally on the front panel, so a technician on site and an operator at a desk both see what the unit is doing.
Q5. Do we still need a voltage stabiliser or a separate isolation transformer?
For most installations, no. A 3 phase in 1 phase out digital UPS already includes an isolation stage on the output, and the input window absorbs a wide swing in the incoming supply, so an extra isolation transformer on the 220 V side is rarely needed. If your 380 V supply moves further than the cabinet's input window allows, an upstream stabiliser is worth discussing — measure the site first and send us the range.
Q6. Can the UPS run on a 60 Hz supply?
Yes. The cabinet accepts 50 or 60 Hz input and delivers output at the same frequency, so it suits sites on either grid standard and can be specified for equipment built to a 60 Hz supply. If the input frequency drifts outside the tolerance window, the unit moves to battery operation and the event is reported on the front panel.
